Did you know that 8% of Americans are affected by diabetes? Alpha Gam knows because every year diabetes continues to affect our sisters as well as our friends, families, and acquaintances. This is why it is important that we recognize diabetes research as our philanthropy. We have partnered with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) to bring aid to the thousands of children and teens affected by this chronic disease. Each year, the Gamma Alpha Chapter hosts a concert in the fall and a Barbeque Bash in the spring where all proceeds benefit the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation which promotes diabetes research and treatment. The concert takes place in downtown Athens and past performers have included Sister Hazel, Taylor Swift, and Love and Theft! Our other event, the Barbeque Bash, is held at our house every spring semester. We offer a barbeque buffet, live music, and a chance to win prizes in a raffle for all of our guests. This past year Alpha Gam is proud to announce that we raised over $7,000 for our philanthropy!
